Patronato Pro Niños has provided dental and medical care, since 1970, to children of the neediest families within our community and outlying areas. We annually provide medical, dental and psychological treatment to 7,600 children, ranging in age from birth through 16. To serve these children, we have four dentists, two doctors and 10 staff members.
Revenue from the Historical Walking Tour makes a substantial financial contribution to the work of our organization. We are an accredited charitable, non-profit organization, registered in the Mexican Federal Registry and awarded with tax exemption status. For more information, see our website: patronatoproninos.org.
Every morning at 7:30, our four mobile vans depart San Miguel to visit some of the hundreds of villages needing dental services. Teachers, parents and children often meet our dentist and her assistant/driver at the entrance of the village. And, in addition, there is a clinic, open each day, at the Health Center.
To preserve dignity and promote parental involvement, families are asked to participate in the cost of their child's care according to their ability, which in many cases is as little as ten pesos.
After we determine an individual child's needs, we work closely with other medical providers - as an advocate and funding source - to make sure the child gets the best care possible. The medical and dental care we provide dramatically changes lives, and in some cases, even saves lives.
